It’s hard to be productive and accomplish all those goals you’ve being thinking about for years if you’re consumed with the daily stress and world wind of life. I’m not referring to increase productivity at work, I am talking about increased productivity for the things you have been wanting to do in life. Maybe it’s a hobby you can’t seem to find time for, or maybe you’ve been wanting to spend more quality time with your partner or family.
As we near the unofficial end of Summer, I’m reminiscing on my beach vacation earlier this Summer to Bimini, Bahamas. It’s one of my favorite beaches because it is remote, desolate, and the water is pristine. Basically, there are very few people and not much to do—but relax.
I have been on my PhD journey now for 5 years. A PhD program is a lot of work and most importantly requires an enormous amount of time. When I started my PhD program, I was 38 and neck-deep in my career. My job was very demanding, and I often found myself working well over 40 hours a week at my job, leaving little time at the end of the day to complete my coursework and write a 10 to 15-page paper nearly every week for school.
About a year and a half ago I stumbled upon Poshmark and I have been hooked and in love with selling my clothes on the app ever since. So what exactly is Poshmark? It's a social marketplace for fashion--and then some. Essentially Poshmark is an app that provides a space to buy and sell clothing.
Having boundaries, simply put, means you are in control of the things, people, and circumstances that are involved in your life. Boundaries set limits on how others can engage with you-- and what your response will be when those boundaries are crossed. Now, if creating boundaries sounds selfish-- its because it is. However, self care is important and necessary for women. In our 40's it is even more important because we cannot take care of others if we are depleted.
