It’s hard to be productive and accomplish all those goals you’ve being thinking about for years if you’re consumed with the daily stress and world wind of life. I’m not referring to increase productivity at work, I am talking about increased productivity for the things you have been wanting to do in life. Maybe it’s a hobby you can’t seem to find time for, or maybe you’ve been wanting to spend more quality time with your partner or family.
As we near the unofficial end of Summer, I’m reminiscing on my beach vacation earlier this Summer to Bimini, Bahamas. It’s one of my favorite beaches because it is remote, desolate, and the water is pristine. Basically, there are very few people and not much to do—but relax.
I have been on my PhD journey now for 5 years. A PhD program is a lot of work and most importantly requires an enormous amount of time. When I started my PhD program, I was 38 and neck-deep in my career. My job was very demanding, and I often found myself working well over 40 hours a week at my job, leaving little time at the end of the day to complete my coursework and write a 10 to 15-page paper nearly every week for school.
About a year and a half ago I stumbled upon Poshmark and I have been hooked and in love with selling my clothes on the app ever since. So what exactly is Poshmark? It's a social marketplace for fashion--and then some. Essentially Poshmark is an app that provides a space to buy and sell clothing.
Having boundaries, simply put, means you are in control of the things, people, and circumstances that are involved in your life. Boundaries set limits on how others can engage with you-- and what your response will be when those boundaries are crossed. Now, if creating boundaries sounds selfish-- its because it is. However, self care is important and necessary for women. In our 40's it is even more important because we cannot take care of others if we are depleted.
Hi Loves! I have been a perfectionist for as long as I can remember. I like things neat, clean, and organized, and quite frankly, done correctly. Perfectionists feel like things can always be tweaked and modified to be better. I have a confession—This is soooo me!
Hey loves, I know it's been a minute! .....3 months to be exact. Eek! I've broken the golden rule of blogging which is that you have to publish consistently. I'd like to share with you what I've embraced during this time away. It's simple: You can do it all, just not all at once.
I get so many messages and emails from new bloggers and struggling who just can’t seem to get their style blog off the ground or who are stuck in a rut and can’t get out. The common denominator is always that they are not making money or they don’t have money to properly start their style blog. The goal of this eBook is to help you make money FAST, with what you already have. So that you can have startup capital to fund your style blog.
We are more than midway through winter and even though the groundhog said we’ll see an early Spring, I’m holding on a little longer. I love a maxi coat as much as I love a maxi dress, which is why I decided to pair them together. A fitted dress is not only comfortable but also easily shifts from day to night.
The outfit I’m sharing today is so versatile. It can be worn to work in the office, out to brunch, or on a dinner date night. I love pixie pants because they are so effortless. The ones I am wearing are from Old Navy and they come in so many styles. You can get different lengths and fits, colors, and prints. I’m rolling with the ankle length pixie.
Oh, I love a good over-the-knee boot! I’m a high heel girl, but every now and then I want to wear a boot that is chic and can be worn all day long. After all, we are busy women and no one feels like carrying an extra pair of flats to change into when your feet start hurting. The comfort level of these boots is a 10, and so is the style factor.
I’m in a chapter in my life where staying motivated is necessary. I have a goal of completing my PhD dissertation next Summer 2019. This means that I had to create very specific and strict goals in order to meet that timeline. It means I have to stay super motivated. For the most part I am, but I certainly have my days and weeks where I’m not.
This outfit is full of animal print. If you don’t know which animal to roll with, make the decision easy and go for all of them in this mixed animal print sweater (Jumper if you’re British)! This over-sized black and white sweater has a mix of zebra, leopard, and cheetah print. The mock neck provides extra warmth on cold winter days.
The Fall and Winter months are made for chunky sweaters and cardigans. I can not tell you how obsessed I am with this bubble-sleeve long cardigan duster. Talk about being wrapped up in comfort and warmth! This cardigan duster gives me all my life.
So this week I am wearing a dress with a dress. Yes—you heard that right. I’ve layered two dresses together. The bottom layer is a ribbed, fitted, tank midi dress and the top layer is a button through maxi dress in a satin maxi leopard print.
Is it a Cardigan or a Sweater Dress? That is the question! Technically it’s a cardigan, but it can be whichever one you want it to be. This season all the sweaters and cardigans are big, over-sized, and chunky. This makes a perfect style recipe for wearing a cardigan as a dress— which is exactly what I’ve done here.
There is something about white denim that makes you forget that you are wearing jeans! The crisp white color creates a chic style that instantly takes basic denim jeans to classy and chic jeans. This pair has a lot of stretch which I love during this time of year as we near the holidays because I’m constantly eating.
The iconic Diane Von Furstenberg put the “wrap” in wrap dress and I’m so thankful she did, because wrap dresses are my favorite! I feel they are the most flattering dress style for any figure. I love that no matter your size, you can adjust it as needed. The way the material wraps around the body just looks so chic.
I love the oversize look and feel of this dress. The structured body and straight lines make it super chic. It really does feel like you are wearing an oversized sweatshirt, except that you’ll look very fashionable in it! It has pocket which is great because always adds an extra special touch. The mock neck is perfect for Fall to keep your neck warm now that we are in the Fall months.
Nothing says STYLE like a classic trench coat! I swooned over this trench when I first saw it on the rack. I comes in a navy blue as well, but there is something about the classic tan color, that made me want this one. A trench coat always reminds me of a sophisticated woman who knows what she wants and knows where she is going.
I am always attempting to push my comfort zone back a bit when it comes to fashion. Paper bag trousers, or paper bag pants as some call them, were definitely outside of my comfort zone. However, once I tried them on and started experimenting I realized they are are super cute and can even be flattering—if you pair them with the right items.
When it comes to animal print the most common or popular print tends to be leopard. However, this season just about any animal print goes. The snake skin print is popping up more and more. This skirt incorporates the print with pleats which make for a chic match.
Nothing says Fall like back to school and back to work! This outfit is perfect for the workplace. This pencil skirt is stretchy and comfy, yet has your curves perfectly (well, I don’t have many curves, lol, but you get the point). The button up top is silky and soft and I love that I can roll the sleeves up effortless for a more relaxed look.
I love a good chunky sweater. There is something so comforting and cute about a knit sweater. I like the fact that this one is just a tad bit oversized and has both a v-neck and an inverted V hemline. The oversize v-neck is perfect for letting one side hang off your shoulder for extra style.
Sometimes simple is best. I’m so ready for Fall but the weather is doing what it wants to do here in Atlanta. So for now we just have to roll with it. In the transition month to Fall, this outfit is perfect for balancing hot and cold. It also makes for a great relaxed date night outfit.
Can you believe this weekend we will be in the month of September?! I am sure you have been pouring over all the September issues perusing the Fall and Winter fashion. This time of year always reminds my of my years covering New York Fashion Week-- way back when it was under the tents in Bryant Park and very exclusive.
Hi loves, what better way to close out Summer than with a bold, black and white palm print?! this tie-front midi skirt is perfect for so many reasons. First, the bold print is loud, yet understated in black and white tones. Second, it's a high-low skirt which shows off just the right amount of leg.
We are in the awkward stage of Summer where school has started and vibes of a new season are coming on but it's still 80-90 degrees-- at least it is in Atlanta! There is something about the start of the school season that makes us want to automatically switch to the Fall season. But I am not ready to let go just yet.
One of the things I love about jumpsuits is having a whole outfit in one piece! This olive jumpsuit from Target is perfect for dressing up or down. The silky like material feels great against your skin and the cinched waistline helps create definition between the top and bottom portion of the jumpsuit.
I often get compliments about something I am wearing and my immediate reaction is to say Thank You and then tell the person where I got it from and how much it cost -- especially if I got a deal on it! I find myself rambling and providing all the details about the outfit. I'm like a walking/talking style blog post!
