Why Blogging is Essential to your Business

I often get asked why blogging is so important to a business. There are 3 main ways that blogging can support your business goals and help you increase revenue. It is important to note that you do not need to be a “blogger” to have a blog. Many people think that blogging is only important to bloggers (i.e. Fashion Bloggers, Mommy Bloggers, Fitness Bloggers, etc.). That is far from the truth. Bloggers happen to be in the blogging business but any business owner can and should be blogging. Here are 3 reasons why you should be blogging:

1. Blogging helps you share your expertise.

What better way to share what you know about your industry then to blog about it. If you plan on writing a book someday, a blog archive can be the perfect outline. When people come to your site they can review your blog and read about everything you know. Establishing yourself in your industry is essential. It also helps when advertisers come to your website to consider working with you. Want to speak at conferences? A blog can double as a resume--highlighting your expertise in your business niche!

2. Blogging provides content for email lists and social media marketing.

There is no better content creator then a blogger! The amazing thing about blog posts is the content can be used and repurposed for marketing. You can duplicate content to reach your email lists and use it for social media marketing. Business owners often do not know what to share on social media. You can start with your blog posts. This helps to drive traffic to your blog and website. 

3. Blogging establishes more ways for clients to find you!

This is by far the most important reason why all business owners should be blogging. If you have a website for your business, your site is likely stagnant-- which means the content on your website doesn't change. You have standard information about you, about the business, about your services and products. This information for the most part does not change. SEO and Google love to see new content. The more new content that is added to your website, the more you will come up in searches. Every time you add a new blog post you are essentially adding a new page of content to your website. Including SEO keywords to every blog post also helps! Imagine after a year of blogging just once a week-- you will have 52 additional pages to your website. This provides so many more ways for your content to be found for people searching for a service and product just like yours!
